I was extremely tired and sleepy one day and as I was lying on my bed, I spoke these words to my Lord:
Lord, there are many things that I need to be doing today but Lord, I don't feel pysically or emotionally strong enough to do them right now. I just want to lie here on your breast, close to your heart and listen for you to commune with me. Lord, if there is something that you want to speak to me about, even if it is a rebuke or chastizement, Lord, I am listening. I desire to communicate with you, my Beloved; and Lord, if you just want to be silent, that is alright too. I will just lie here against your breat and listen to your heartbeat, because I know it beats for me as mine beats for you. We don't have to always talk to communicate, you and I; even the silence between us is filled with love, contentment, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. You are altogether lovely, my Beloved, my Friend, and my desire is towards Thee. Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to Thy voice; cause me to hear it; I'm listening for your heartbeat.
I felt as though I was actually lying on his chest and I went to sleep. While I was asleep, a storm came and I slept right through it. A bright light awakened me. When I looked out my window to see where it was coming from, there was a beautiful double rainbow just outside my bedroom window. I went to the piano and began playing a tune that I had never heard before and then the words to this song came to me:
"NOW I'M LISTENING FOR YOUR HEARTBEAT"
I listened for you in the rolling drums
But I couldn't hear you
I listened for you in the guitar strums
But I couldn't hear you
Oh, but how I did rejoice when I heard you
In a still, small voice.
(CHORUS)
Now, I'm listening for your heartbeat
Lying on your breast, so sweet
Feeling your Spirit close to me
Loving me so tenderly
I'm listening for Your heartbeat.
I'm listening for Your heartbeat.
I listened for you when I was traveling about
But I couldn't hear you
I listened for you in the loud shout
But I couldn't hear you
Oh, but how I did rejoice when I heard you,
In a still, small voice.
(CHORUS)
Now, I'm listening for Your heartbeat
Restoring my soul completely
Giving me tranquility
Listening for Your heartbeat
Now I'm listening for your heartbeat.
